I am a twenty-something cosplayer and costumer, living in Gatineau, who loves anime, fantasy, sci-fi and horror.
I have been crafting since I was eight years old when my grandmothers discovered I was interested in trying. They taught me everything and I think they’re the best grandmothers in the world! My favourite forms of crafting are cross-stitching and hand embroidery. I started sewing my own clothes by hand as a teenager until my grandmothers bought me a sewing machine for my twenty-fourth birthday. See? Best grandmothers in the world, right?
Even though I have been making my own costumes for years, I officially got into cosplay in 2013 when I was trying to make a Harley Quinn costume for Halloween. I stumbled upon a tutorial on Youtube by Axceleration Cosplay and realized that this was a thing. Because of this, I then discovered conventions. Needless to say, I went to my first con, Ottawa Pop Expo, one month after Halloween, wearing a Katara costume, made entirely by hand.
I recently took a break from cosplay to study fashion design and haute couture at Richard Robinson’s Academy of fashion in Ottawa. But now that I’ve graduated, I am working hard on making costumes, and creating patterns for other cosplayers to make their costumes too!
